SCHOOL DISCIPLINE
Discipline begins in the home at an early age. A well-disciplined child will direct his/her interest, efforts and abilities toward greater achievement. Those who are well disciplined take advantage of their individual opportunities and help create a learning situation for their classmates. When a child is in school, discipline becomes the teacher's responsibility. Since St. Therese's basic philosophy is to provide a Christian environment where each child is able to develop his/her intellectual and spiritual gifts to the fullest, our purpose in discipline is to promote genuine pupil development. The behavior expected of a St. Therese student is:
1. Respect toward authority and one's peers
3. Honesty
2. Cooperation
4. Responsibility
Disrespect toward teacher, fighting, foul language, defacement of property, use of drugs, weapons, and stealing are matters for disciplinary action. If a student's behavior is generally disruptive and uncooperative, it may be necessary to ask the parents to remove their child from St. Therese School. This will be the last course of action. However, we cannot sacrifice the education of the whole class because of the disruptive behavior of one student. If parents behave in a disruptive or abusive manner, we reserve the right to request them to withdraw their children from St. Therese School.
