Pre-K News Welcome to a brand new school year. School has started and we have been busy learning all about our new classroom, and making new friends. We enjoy listening to stories, being creative in art area, playing in kitchen center, and building with blocks. Currently, the children have been busy learning all about the season of Autumn. They have been watching the leaves turn from green to red, yellow, orange and gold. The children are noticing that the air is turning chillier, and they need to put on jackets when they leave for school every morning. We have been discussing how we need to dress on cold days in order to stay warm. The children will watch Autumn change to Winter, and will be anxiously waiting for the first snowfall of the year. Activities and lesson will be based around the seasons and holidays, and what we are experiencing. We will continue to read enjoyable books on the topics that we are learning about. Pre-K Three and Four are also busy learning pre-reading and early mathematics skills. We focus on a different letter each week, and plan activities around that letter. The children are learning how to recognize and write their names, and they enjoy a very structured calendar activity each morning or afternoon. We also are reviewing our shapes and colors since we don't want to forget these skills. The children love singing new songs and dancing to music. Pre-K is off to a fantastic start! |
