Social Actions
The St. Therese Social Actions group meets the concrete needs of the community as a whole, and to deal with special emergency needs as they develop or come to our attention.
Different areas of the Social Actions group are our Cares Program, our outreach program to our sister parish Our Lady of Sorrows, Bereavement Support Group, and the Ministry of the Sick.
The Cares Program reaches out to those parishioners in times of emergencies, unemployment, death, fire, etc. A monthly collection funds the account and is distributed as an on need basis.
Our Support to our sister parish, Our Lady of Sorrows, helps the families of that parish that are less fortunate and are in need of clothing, food and additional assistance in their own out reach programs.
The Bereavement Support group has a yearly, three week session to help anyone in the parish that has lost someone during the year. The theme of the sessions is, "Helping One Make It Through the Holidays." This group also sends out sympathy cards each month to families that have lost a loved one. They also send out invitations to the yearly Memorial mass that is held on All Souls Day in November.
The Ministry of the Sick is Eucharist Ministers that give Communion to those that can't make it to church on Sunday. These ministers also visit with these people and talk to them as a visitor of the community of our parish.
