Feel The Rhythm of Life!
Each year at The Academy of St. Therese, we have a theme for the year in music class. This year's theme is "Feel The Rhythm of Life!" This theme is covered in varying degrees at each level, k-1 through listening, playing, singing and watching different musical performances. So far the students have learned all about percussion instruments and musical styles where the rhythm is distinct and prominent. They are learning about variations on a theme, jazz and improvisation as well as note value and being able to read a rhythm as it is notated.
Composer of The Month
At the same time, students are being introduced to one new composer each month. Last month's composer was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The composer for November is Beethoven. The students have found great satisfaction in realizing that they were already familiar with much of their music and now have names to go with the melodies. As always, we will be preparing for our annual Christmas Presentation in which all students,Pre-k-1, participate.
